At Noon: Traditional Good Friday Liturgy
A traditional, Good Friday Service including John’s account of the Passion gospel.
An in-person worship service.
At 6:30 PM: Solemn Service of Tenebrae
A “Solemn Service of Tenebrae,” or “Service of Shadows,” is a somber, reflective service focusing on the passion and death of Jesus through readings, special music, and the gradual extinguishing of candles. The service is designed to encourage meditation and reflection on the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and death, and to prepare for the Easter celebration.
The word “Tenebrae” is Latin for “darkness” or “shadows.”
As this later service will be live-streamed, all are invited to participate either in-person or virtually.
For over 100 years, Episcopalians have generously shared their love, compassion, and financial gifts to support the ministry of the Anglican Communion Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. On Good Friday, it is customary that the offering from services go to support the life and mission of the three dioceses. These gifts have made an astounding difference in the lives of many people in the homeland of Jesus and beyond.
